Annie was Spotlight's third and most ambitious musical production when it was performed in May 2008. The fantastic cast was fronted by Jasmine Stokes (Annie) in her first lead role. Previous Spotlight leading ladies Sophie Mance and Rebecca Owen gave fantastic performances in their roles as Miss Hannigan and Grace Farrell respectively, and Callum Bateman, in his first Spotlight show, played Oliver Warbucks. The show was the first ever to be performed away from St Mary's Church Hall, Baldock, and was instead performed at Royston Town Hall. This new venue boasted a more professional stage and a bigger space. Ticket sales for Annie easily surpassed Guys And Dolls, and the production was, like Guys And Dolls and Grease before it, widely regarded as our best production so far. |
